Frequently Asked Questions

 The Leadership Brownsburg Academy is an eight-session crash course in Town of Brownsburg government and civic leadership. 

Participation is open to residents of Brownsburg, IN.  

We encourage anyone who would like to exercise positive community leadership to apply to Leadership Brownsburg Academy.  This can include established neighborhood leaders, home owners, renters, business owners, and non-profit workers. If you care about Brownsburg and want to work with the Town to improve quality of life, we want you to apply. 

Brownsburg Leadership Academy was created to equip residents with the tools and information necessary to be strong, community focused civic leaders. Leadership Brownsburg Academy is focused on making Town government more accessible and transparent, and engaging residents as partners in grappling with the challenges we face as a community.

Up to 30 applicants will be selected. Selection is based on the application content, with a focus on selecting applicants who reflect the rich diversity of our community and who demonstrate a willingness to engage as leaders in Brownsburg. 

The program is free.  Because Leadership Brownsburg Academy represents a significant investment in each participant, we ask that potential participants not miss sessions and think carefully about the time commitment before applying.

Sessions are held monthly on Tuesday afternoons. All sessions are in-person and will be held at Town-owned facilities. Selected applicants will receive an official agenda with details on each session and location with their acceptance packet.  

Leadership Brownsburg Academy covers the operations of the Town of Brownsburg and how to engage in purposeful leadership. Participants will walk away with a high level understanding of the Town of Brownsburg and specialized knowledge about the Town's departments.

Leadership Brownsburg Academy is offered annually, from February-September.

Participants may miss up to two sessions out of eight (not including graduation). Each session is packed full of vital information and participants are highly encouraged not to miss any.

We will keep your information on file and let you know if a participant drops out. We also encourage applicants to apply again for the next cycle and will give you first notice when applications are available.

Graduates of Leadership Brownsburg Academy can indicate their status on applications for boards and commissions. Graduates will also be included on volunteer communications. How graduates engage in individual community leadership is up to them, though community involvement and exercising leadership is a condition of participating in the program.
