The Town of Brownsburg Wastewater Department is responsible for collecting, managing, and treating wastewater generated throughout our community. We operate the 5.25 million-gallon class IV facility and a complex system of pipes and pumps that collect wastewater and, in some locations, stormwater.
The facility consists of biological processes that remove and reduce pollutants and returns the cleaned water to White Lick Creek.
Treated Water Discharges
The facility is allowed to discharge treated water into the White Lick Creek through a National Pollutant Discharge Permit (NPDES) granted by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We must comply with many local, state, and federal regulations, which define standards for our effluent (treated discharge).
We consistently produce high-quality effluent and have won several awards for operations, maintenance, laboratory, and safety excellence. The facility participates in the beneficial reuse of biosolids. The facility also routinely passes multiple inspections required by IDEM and EPA.
