All Americans, including those traveling in the transportation systems, should continue to be vigilant, take notice of their surroundings, and report suspicions items or activities to local authorities immediately.

Everybody should establish an emergency preparedness kit as well as a communications plan for themselves and their family, and stay informed about what to do during an emergency situation.

DEPARTMENT

NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME

TUESDAY, AUGUST 3RD 6PM to 9PM

TOWN MUNICIPAL GROUNDS

At this year’s National Night Out Against Crime event the Brownsburg Police Department is adding some environmentally friendly elements.  The department has chosen to forego the traditional commemorative plastic bracelets handed out to attendees in past years.  Alternatively, the first five hundred attendees who bring in plastic shopping bags to recycle will receive a screen-printed Brownsburg Police Department logo reusable tote bag.  In addition, several recycling receptacles will be available throughout the event grounds to recycle the many plastic bottles of water provided to the crowd.  Be sure to dispose of your bottles responsibly by using the right containers! Also, we encourage you not to contaminate the water by flushing expired or unused prescription drugs.  Proper disposal of your old or unneeded prescriptions safeguards against unauthorized access and abuse. The Hendricks County Substance Abuse Task force will provide special disposal bags that include drop-off dates, instructions and tox-away information.  Another environmentally conscious feature of the event includes the All-Shred document shredding company who will be accepting unwanted or sensitive documents for destruction to promote identify theft.  Citizens may bring paper only for destruction in the container of their choice which will be returned to them.  All-Shred recycles 100% of the paper waste they collect which is remanufactured.  For every 2,000 pounds of waste collected, 17 trees are saved.  Please come out and enjoy a fun-filled and free night of crime prevention education, public service, live music by “Big Daddy Caddy”, children’s activities and food.  Don’t forget your plastic shopping bags and old documents!
